AIDA 4

DESCRIPTION:

This course will boost your confidence in freediving. You'll learn the latest techniques for deeper diving and conditioning your body for the sport. It will push your freediving abilities to the limit. The AIDA 4* is the highest level a recreational freediver can achieve.

Being an AIDA 4* advanced freediver qualifies you to act as an AIDA Assistant Instructor.

Minimum Age: 16


Prerequisite: Completed AIDA 3* course (or equivalent) and EFR (Emergency First Response) or similar First Aid course including CPR within the last 2 years
Open Water Training: 4 sessions
Pool Training: 2 sessions
Theory: 3 sessions

Successfully completing this course earns you an International Certification from AIDA.

To become a certified AIDA 4* freediver, you must hold your breath for 3 minutes and 30 seconds, swim 70 meters underwater with fins, and dive to 32 meters in open water. The course will teach you the necessary skills and techniques to achieve these goals.

  • Failure depth and how to extend it

  • Exhale diving (FRC) - how and when to use it, dangers of exhale diving

  • Lung packing - how and when to use it, risks

  • Mouth fill equalising - how and when to use it, benefits

  • Decompression sickness and narcosis in freediving

  • Equipment for deep freediving

  • Fitness for freediving - aerobic and anaerobic training, full body and lung stretching

  • Nutrition and hydration for freediving
